The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science degree is offered in cooperation with the Open Source Society University (OSSU) founder Mr. Eric Douglas.
The curriculum of this programme was formulated based on the Computer Science Curricula 2013 which are guidelines for undergraduate degree programmes in computer science published by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). The BSCS degree is a self-paced computer science programme created by the OSSU using online educational resources. The programme offers comprehensive fundamental concepts to different computing disciplines.
The OSSU curriculum was designed without business subjects. Students enrolled in the BSCS programme may choose to take the Diploma in Business Studies (DBS) at no additional cost. This is optional and not required to graduate in the BSCS programme.
Completing the Computer Science degree will take approximately four (4) years including the elective subjects. It is possible to finish the programme in less time if twenty (20) study hours or more are dedicated every week to studying. All courses in this programme are available for free but several courses are taken at massive open online course (MOOC) providers such as the EdX platform created by Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Please note that some MOOC providers charge a nominal fee for graded exams and certificates of completion.
In order to be awarded this degree, students must pass all the requirements set in the curriculum and complete a peer-reviewed project. Students will be interviewed as part of their final requirement for graduation.
